Cardiac Services

ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (EKG)
PMX offers Electrocardiograms (EKGs) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. A 12 lead electrocardiogram will be performed by a technologist and the tracing will be given to your facility. The EKG will then be reviewed by a board certified, state licensed cardiologist. EKGs are used to determine abnormalities with the atria and ventricles, electrical conduction problems, arrhythmias, ischemia and myocardial infarction.

HOLTER MONITOR
A technologist will connect the Holter Monitor to examine a patient's cardiac cycle for a continuous period of time, typically 24 hours. The technologist returns to remove the device. The information retrieved will then be interpreted by a board certified, state licensed cardiologist. This examination can be used to determine arrhythmias and heart blocks.

PACEMAKER CHECKS
Pacemaker Checks are used to determine if the patient’s pacemaker is functioning properly. The patient will be placed on a cycle to ensure compliance with state regulations. The information retrieved will be interpreted by a board certified, state licensed cardiologist.

The manufacturer, model number, serial number and implant dates are needed for proper interpretation and safety. A defibrillator device cannot have this type of pacemaker check.
